The skin stapler tips and tricks
General tips

The Skin Stapler is a $11.99 single-player action horror from developer Tainted Pact and publisher Assemble Entertainment, released on Aug 6, 2026. It is a compact story with a 2 GB install size and forgiving minimum specs (a Core 2 Duo and a GTX 760 will run it), so it is easy to play on an older machine or a laptop without worrying about performance.
The Skin Stapler is a retro-styled PSX grindhouse horror adventure set in the rotting, crime-soaked sprawl of Carrion City.
A few things worth knowing before your first session:
- Treat the 16 Steam achievements as a progress list. Most of them unlock for completing a named chapter, from The Burrows Apartment to The Final Aftermath.
- You work the case as a duo: jaded detective Dick Slater and eager rookie Robbie Knox. The tone and the pacing of the investigation are built around their partnership, so do not skip their dialogue.
- Do not expect content beyond the base story. With no demo and no launch DLC, the whole game is the chapter list plus the tape objectives tucked inside it.
Early in the game, go back to Dick Slater's office and interact with the "Thank You" note. It unlocks the Skin Successfully Stapled! achievement and is easy to miss if you never return to the office after the opening chapters.
Combat and exploration
Carrion City is a rotting, crime-soaked sprawl full of dark interiors and returning crime scenes. The chapter list shows four Aftermath chapters plus a Final Aftermath, which is a strong hint that locations change after the killer acts. Plan to revisit areas you thought you had cleared.
